As we continue on our journey, we are in the process of listing our home and have made an offer on a home in Washougal, Washington. I am still serving at Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon as the Regional Development Officer. On May 24th, Ruth had a total hip replacement and I was her caregiver and helped her during that time. She is doing well now without a walker or cain and has no pain anymore in her hip. We give God glory for a wonderful surgeon and Gods healing power.
I have been studying the 52 Major Events of the Bible with several men every Saturday, at Rosauers restaurant at the “Y” in north Spokane. We listen to the sermons on www.biblicaltraining.org and read the scripture prior to our time at Rosauers. It has been very encouraging to have these men meet and discuss the sermon and share our lives with each other.
One of the sermons was on the Story of Joseph (Genesis 37-50). “The story of Joseph shows us that even in the bleakest of times when we are engulfed by sin and its consequences, when life seems out of control, faith says God is in control” – one of the promises that God asks us to believe. “God worked in the midst of human sin when they killed his perfect son. If God can work in the midst of that kind of depravity and sin, He can work in the midst of your life, and mine.”
As Ruth and I continue on our journey we look forward to what God has for us in the future. Sometimes we feel a little out of control and not sure what the next step is but we know that we are in God’s hand and trust him for wisdom and direction in our lives. “When life seems out of control, faith says God is in control.”
Please send me your comments of how God has directed you through your life.

The Journey Continues . . .
Since my last blog I have worked for Western Seminary for the month of December. Last week I traveled to Portland to spend some time on the campus meeting staff, faculty and contacting donors. My activities and travels will take me in the state of Oregon and Washington and primarily in the western part of both states. It is difficult to keep in touch with many of our supporters on a personal basis since many of them live on the west side of Oregon and Washington. That is the reason we need to move to that area.
Western Seminary has a long history when it opened its doors in 1927 in Portland, Oregon as the first graduate theological school of its kind on the west coast. The seminary exists to glorify God by exalting His Son, Jesus Christ, in prayerful dependence upon the Holy Spirit and Word of God. The mission and vision is a catalyst and resource for spiritual transformation by providing, with and for the church, advanced training for strategic ministry roles.
We still need to sell our house and since the market is so dead I will continue working from our home and travel to the west side of the two states.
My nephew Steve in Southern California and I keep in contact through of all places “Face book”. He shares scripture with me and let’s me know what he is doing. He has a strong walk with God. Last week he shared with me the following scripture: Psalm 143:8. “Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love, for in you I trust. Make me know the way I should go, for to you I lift up my soul.”
Please keep praying that God will help me know the way I should go.

The Journey continues...
As I mentioned in my previous blog, being retired doesn’t mean that we stop living or serving God. This past year both Ruth and I have been praying for God to give us wisdom and direction in our lives in how we can be use to advance His Kingdom.
We were in Portland last week and had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Bill, Robin, Tyler, Kiersten, Hayden and Keith Leonard. It was a time for family to enjoy Breakfast at IHOP, a great Thanksgiving dinner and football. Oh, also, Ruth, Robin and Kierten played “Nuts” with a lot of laughter.
I had meetings at Western Seminary the first of the week to discuss the possibility of accepting a position in the Advancement office. This was the second meeting I have had with them and as you know we have been praying for God to direct us whether this was what He wants me to do. On Monday, November 30, 2009, I start my new position as Regional Development Officer serving in Washington and Oregon states.
This is only the first step and next is to sell our home of 32 years and get rid of items that we perceive as treasures but not treasures to others and find a place in the Portland area. I will be doing some travel for a while between Portland, Seattle and other areas but it is not full time.
Your prayers are encouraged as we start this new journey that our transition will be smooth and God will be praised as we serve Him.
